Choose the right base or mid-layer

How to Find the Right Base and Mid-layer

Woolpower base and mid-layers are designed to regulate body temperatures whether you're hardcore adventuring or sitting still.

While our base layers increase in insulation going from LITE to 200, every body is different. One person may need LITE as a base layer with no other layering. Another may need a 200 base layer with a 400 mid-layer.

To make sure you choose the right layer, consider:

  1. Your body temperature

  2. Your adventure

  3. Outside weather conditions

Comparison chart titled "Do You Run Hot or Cold?" detailing traits of "Lite" and "Ullfrotté 200" activity preferences.

Steps for Choosing the Right Layer

Step 1: Do you run cold or hot?

Some run hot, some run cold. If you tend to run hot, perhaps start with lighter base layers. If you tend to run cold, start with 200s.

Step 2: What's the adventure?

Choose your base layer based on your activity level. High-intensity activities like running require moisture management to prevent overheating, while lower-intensity activities like downhill skiing, require more insulation.

Step 3: What's it like outside?

Outside conditions will impact which base and mid-layers you choose. The more extreme the conditions (cold, ice, wind), the warmer the layer.
